COLLEGE RECRUITING

Student-Athletes top priority during their high school career to have as many options during the recruiting process:
1. Be a great human, son, sibling, classmate, student, and teammate. College coaches do not recruit bad apples or attitudes.
2. Academics: See charts below, emphasizing overall GPA and standardized test scores athletes should be aiming for.
3. Are you physically able to compete at the level of their program?

1. Be a great human...this includes social skills.

  • Look people (college coaches) in the eye when you greet and speak with them. Hold that eye connection throughout.

  • Give a firm handshake and say hello, it's nice to meet you/thank you, etc..

2. Academics

  • Discipline now will lead to better grades and most importantly, more options and opportunities later (ie. more college coaches can recruit you because you have a strong GPA/test scores. Click on charts to enlarge.

3. Are you physically able to compete at the level needed?

  • If you've already starting lifting, great, keep going and go harder.

  • If you have not, you can start now as this is the best window of time to add strength to your athleticism. Start with the basics and get yourself a strength coach. Investing in your overall health, including hiring a strength coach, can be one of the best investments parents/athletes can make.  Remember, start smart and slow, build over time. See the CHAOS Strength page to get your journey going.
